2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell. Gunn has also shared a photo on Instagram of the orchestra hard at work at Abbey Road. Recently we have seen snippets of scores being recorded on the scoring stage including Logan, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story but this will be the first time ever we get a glimpse into a scoring session live on the web. Bates is an incredibly talented composer and at the very least, his return will help to bring a consistency the MCU films lack musically. Tyler Bates returning to score Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 does have me hopeful. The first Guardians contained a great theme, but it wasn’t quite the earworm it needed to be to ingrain itself into our brains. With the exception of The Avengers - as well as a brief appearance in Age of Ultron - no Marvel film has included a memorable original theme that accompanies the heroes on their adventure. The original Guardians of the Galaxy is known for the incredible soundtrack that accompanied the wild ride audiences went on along with the galaxies unlikeliest heroes but one of the most overlooked aspects of all Marvel films across the board are the films original scores. Tomorrow if all goes right, I’ll be broadcasting a cue from #GotGVol2 score live from FB at 8ish am PST The film’s writer and director, James Gunn, has tweeted that if all goes well he’s going to broadcast the recording of a cue live from Abbey Road Studios so be sure you keep your eyes peeled here on Heroic Hollywood or Gunn’s Facebook page in the morning. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 - which is currently in post-production - is in the middle of being scored and tomorrow morning we may get to witness the recording of a cue live on Facebook around 8 a.m.
